Report: DeMarcus Cousins thinks George Karl tried to suspend him ‘several times’
When DeMarcus Cousins was suspended one game by the Sacramento Kings last week, Cousins was of the belief that George Karl finally got his way.
On Sunday, Cousins said that it was Karl himself — not the Kings organization — that issued the suspension. According to a report from Marc J. Spears of Yahoo Sports, sources close to Cousins believe Karl has pushed “several times” this season for the Kings to suspend the big man.
Whether that is true or not, it further reiterates how strained the relationship between Karl and Cousins has become. Karl is expected to coach in Sacramento for the remainder of the season, but his future beyond that is very much in doubt. The Kings seem intent on not trading Cousins, and it has become clear that the 25-year-old has no interest in coexisting with Karl.
It is believed that Cousins’ suspension stemmed from an incident in which he went off on Karl on the bench (video here). The two also reportedly got into it earlier in the season.
