DeMarcus Cousins is continuing to be a strong leader for the New Orleans Pelicans despite suffering a devastating injury.
Cousins suffered a torn Achilles’ tendon during Friday night’s game, which will require season-ending surgery. The injury is a crushing blow for the Pelicans, who had been on a roll and were starting to move up the standings.
Even though he is injured, Cousins is still trying to lead his team. The New Orleans Advocate’s Scott Kushner reported Saturday that Cousins was in the film room with the Pelicans the day after his injury. Guard Rajon Rondo also expects him to continue being a strong leader.
Rajon Rondo said DeMarcus Cousins was in the film room with the #Pelicans this morning, despise tearing his achillies last night.
He expects Cousins to stay around the team and maintain his presence and leadership role.

It says a lot about Cousins that he is able to be there for his teammates at a time when he is experiencing great personal disappointment. Sometimes he gets negative publicity for his antics, but this is a credit to him.
