DeMarcus Cousins says Kings have ‘some issues in-house’

DeMarcus-Cousins

All is not well in Sacramento following the Kings’ 1-7 start, and the problems aren’t just on the court, if DeMarcus Cousins is to be believed.

The Kings lost 106-88 to the Spurs on Monday night, and Sacramento was outscored on their home floor 34-19 in the fourth quarter. Cousins admitted after the game that there are some issues off the court in addition to the poor play on it, and that a players-only meeting may be required to fix things.

“We got some issues that we got to, you know, carve out,” Cousins told reporters, via CSN Bay Area’s James Ham. “Can’t really speak on that, but one thing is, us players, we’ve got to stick together. Just with that, that will get us over or get us through most battles.”

“We got some issues in-house we need to figure out,” Cousins said. “It will be a players only meeting, but just to make it clear, I believe in every single person in this room. We just got to stay together. That part I’m not worried about, but it is issues we got to figure out. I feel like when those issues are fixed, the winning will come,” Cousins said.

Rudy Gay agreed with Cousins’s assessment.

“I do, I do, I agree with it,” Gay said. “It’s obvious. What is it, six in a row? We have a lot of things we need to address and for us to be a good team, we have to do it quick.”

According to Carmichael Dave of Sacramento’s KHTK, the issues go above the players, too, and that coach George Karl may have to answer for the team’s awful start.

Between Karl, Cousins, and Rajon Rondo, the Kings have a lot of talent, but also a lot of strong personalities. Things clearly aren’t working right now. This team is too talented to be 1-7, but if these comments are any indication, the Kings have a lot of underlying issues to figure out.
