Boston Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla has become known for taking a no-nonsense approach with the media, and apparently he acts the same way behind closed doors.
With Mazzulla becoming more quotable by the day, Celtics point guard Derrick White was asked on Thursday if he has a favorite quote from his head coach. White recalled the time he congratulated Mazzulla on winning coach Eastern Conference Coach of the Month, and Mazzulla had a blunt two-word response.
Mazzulla told White “nobody cares.”

That is hardly a surprise. Mazzulla is a very intense guy. He probably does not care all that much about individual awards, especially ones that are given out monthly.
Mazzulla is on the verge of winning an NBA title in just his second season on the job. He unexpectedly took over for the Celtics prior to last season when Ime Udoka was ousted over violating team policy. The 35-year-old Mazzulla has shown he is up to the task, and he has delivered some great lines along the way.
