Devin Booker is expected to sign on for even more money.
Booker is expected to sign a 2-year, $150 million contract extension with the Phoenix Suns. Booker is already under contract through the 2028 season. A two-year extension would put him under contract through 2030, which is his age-33 season, and pay him more than $320 million over that span.
Booker already has made/is scheduled to make $387 million for his career. Adding $150 million to that total would put him at $537 million in career earnings through 2030.
Booker, 28, was drafted No. 13 overall by the Suns in 2015 and has played his entire career with the team. He has averaged 24.4 points, 4.1 rebounds, 7.1 assists and 0.9 steals per game during his career.
Phoenix is in rebuilding mode. They fired coach Mike Budenholzer and traded Kevin Durant to the Houston Rockets as part of a 7-team deal. They have also discussed a buyout of Bradley Beal, who is owed $110 million over the next two seasons.
The Suns tried to make a big run when they acquired Durant in a trade with Brooklyn in 2023. They added Beal in a trade around the same time, hoping the two would work with Booker to form a successful trio. Instead, the players were rarely all healthy at the same time, and the team missed the playoffs entirely last season.
Booker is undaunted by the Suns’ financial problems and plans to remain with them long term.
