Draymond Green has already tried many different angles to defend himself in the wake of his kick to Steven Adams’ groin on Sunday night, and the one that suits him the best could be that he was trying to draw a foul call.
Green insists he did not intend to kick Adams. However, he has not denied that he intentionally kicked out his leg. On Monday, the Golden State Warriors forward basically admitted that he was flopping around in an attempt to get a call.
“I always do that,” Green said, per Ben Golliver of SI.com. “Russell (Westbrook) said I did it on purpose, but he’s part of this superstar group that started all this acting in the NBA. I didn’t. I sold the call.”

In other words, Green claims he was flopping and that players like Westbrook taught him how to do that. That’s a lame excuse, but there is some evidence to support Green’s claim that he “always” kicks his leg out when trying to draw a call. He did the same thing when he was stripped on a play in Golden State’s opening-round series against the Houston Rockets:

The question now becomes whether the NBA is willing to give Green the benefit of the doubt because he may have been flopping rather than trying to kick Adams. Obviously, the league would frown upon either motive. If you have not seen the play, you can watch it here.
