The Utah Jazz had a disappointing outcome with the draft lottery, but Dwyane Wade is looking at the bright side.

The Jazz ended up with the No. 5 overall pick in the 2025 draft. They finished with the worst record during the regular season at 17-65 and were tied with two other teams (Wizards and Hornets) for the best chances of landing the top pick at 14 percent. Instead, the Jazz missed out on the top four and ended up with their worst possible outcome. Wade isn’t too concerned.

Wade is a part-owner of the Jazz. He pointed out that all hope is not lost despite falling to No. 5 in the draft order.

“But…… There has (sic) been some great players drafted with the 5th pick!” Wade wrote on X.

What makes that such a good post? Wade, of course, was the No. 5 overall pick by the Miami Heat in the 2003 NBA Draft. That was one of the best draft classes ever, as it produced Hall of Fame players at Nos. 1 (LeBron James), 3 (Carmelo Anthony), 4 (Chris Bosh) and 5 (Wade).

Will the Jazz be able to strike it as big as the Heat did in 2003? The No. 1 pick is expected to be Cooper Flagg to the Dallas Mavericks. Dylan Harper and Ace Bailey are among the other players who could go in the top five.

The Jazz may now be hoping to land AJ Dybansta in 2026. Dybansta is set to play at BYU in the fall and will likely be a 1-and-done player.
