Enes Kanter agrees to two-year deal with Celtics

Enes Kanter

The Boston Celtics are in need of frontcourt help after losing Al Horford to the Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday, and they made a move to address that by signing Enes Kanter on Monday.

Shams Charania of The Athletic reports that Kanter and the Celtics have agreed to a two-year deal.

The deal is for the full room exception, which will pay Kanter $4.7 million next season. It includes a player option for 2020-21.

Kanter should provide the Celtics with a nice scorer and rebounder in the post. He averaged 13.7 points and 9.8 rebounds per game between his time with the New York Knicks and Portland Trail Blazers last year, so the numbers are solid.

That said, Kanter is not known for being a good defender down low. The Celtics will still need to find a way to sure up their interior defense, especially for when they play a team like the Philadelphia 76ers. Kanter is not going to help them slow down Joel Embiid.
