Giannis Antetokounmpo answers whether he will be staying with Bucks

Giannis Antetokounmpo was finally asked the million dollar question this week by [checks notes] IShowSpeed.

The Milwaukee Bucks star Antetokounmpo is vacationing in his native Greece this week and appeared on a stream Thursday with the popular Internet personality IShowSpeed. During the stream, IShowSpeed asked Antetokounmpo directly whether he would be staying with the Bucks.

“Probably,” replied Antetokounmpo. “Probably. We’ll see. We’ll see. Probably. I love Milwaukee.”

Antetokounmpo then quickly changed the subject. You can see the full clip here.

The former NBA MVP Antetokounmpo also noted on the stream with IShowSpeed that “a lot of people” have tried to convince him to play in New York. However, Antetokounmpo noted that taxes are “bad” in both New York and in Los Angeles.

For the time being, Antetokounmpo, 30, is signed with the Bucks through at least 2027 (with a $62.8 million player option for 2027-28 as well). Milwaukee has also been making some big moves to try to appease Antetokounmpo, most notably the addition of a prominent new frontcourt partner for him.

But Antetokounmpo has been dogged all offseason by rumors suggesting that he may ask the Bucks for a trade, especially after their third consecutive first-round exit. More recently, we heard that a trade was still very much a possibility in play as Antetokounmpo continues to weigh his long-term future.

That said, some figures in the know have predicted on the record that the nine-time NBA All-Star will simply stay put in Milwaukee. Based on Antetokounmpo’s comments here, that still seems to be the likeliest outcome (though perhaps not a foregone conclusion).
