Greg Monroe signing for 76ers reportedly not related to Joel Embiid injury
The Philadelphia 76ers have signed veteran center Greg Monroe to a rest-of-season contract, and the move comes at a time when Joel Embiid has been sitting out to rest his knee before the postseason. However, one thing apparently has nothing to do with the other.
Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports that the Sixers signed Monroe strictly to add veteran depth, not because they are concerned about Embiid’s long-term health.
A source says the @M10OSE signing is a move to add veteran depth. In no way a reflection of any concern related to @JoelEmbiid’s health

Embiid has battled knee soreness all season, but he had an MRI back in February that revealed no structural damage. With the 76ers looking to make a deep playoff run, it makes sense that they are giving the All-Star rest down the stretch.
