Report: Grizzlies were laughing, joking in locker room after losing by 61
The Memphis Grizzlies apparently were alarmingly unfazed by their worst loss in franchise history on Thursday night.
After falling to the Charlotte Hornets by a video game-like final of 140-79 (a difference of 61 points), the Grizzlies were heard laughing and joking in the locker room, according to Ronald Tillery of the Commercial Appeal.
Per Tillery:
[Interim coach JB] Bickerstaff nor [center Marc] Gasol were in the locker room when it opened for media after the game. Perhaps that was a good thing because several Grizzlies players didn’t appear to take the loss hard given the amount of laughter and joking between them.
On the one hand, losing has been nothing new for Memphis this year — they are currently tied for the worst record in the NBA at 19-53 and recently came off a streak of 19 straight losses in what has clearly become a tanking season. But considering that Thursday’s beatdown set all sorts of franchise records for ineptitude, it is quite concerning (and possibly speaks to some organizational dysfunction) that several players seemed totally indifferent about it all.
