Heat in active talks to re-sign Udonis Haslem
The Miami Heat may have just lost their biggest franchise icon in Dwyane Wade, but they’re reportedly in talks to bring back another longtime franchise player.
According to the South Florida Sun Sentinel’s Ira Winderman, the Heat are in “active negotiations” to re-sign Udonis Haslem.

Haslem, 36, was part of the Heat’s same draft class as Dwyane Wade in 2003. He has spent his entire career playing for Miami.
Though there was a time early in his career where Haslem was good for around 10 points and 8-9 rebounds per game, the former Florida forward is nearing the end of his career and is barely a contributor. He played in just 37 games last season for the Heat, averaging 1.6 points and two rebounds in seven minutes a game. Haslem won’t help much on the court, but he’s still a symbol of stability and leadership within the locker room, so his presence at just above the minimum salary should be welcomed by the Heat.
