Isaiah Thomas battled through a hip injury during the postseason last year, and that’s the reason he has not yet made his debut with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Although the point guard led the Boston Celtics on a deep playoff run, he now regrets not sitting out.
In a conversation with ESPN’s Rachel Nichols that aired Sunday, Thomas said he wishes he had begun rehabbing his hip injury rather than playing hurt last season.

“I’ve always, no matter what, I’ve always played through injuries,” Thomas said. “If I went back and could do it again I would have sat out the playoffs, because I would be playing right now. I would be 100 percent.”
Nichols also asked Thomas if he wishes he had more information about his injury from the Celtics’ medical staff.
“I do wish I had more information and knew that this was something that could shut you down for a while,” he said. “If that was the case I definitely wouldn’t have played.”
Reports have indicated that Thomas will make his Cavs debut in the first week of January, but Thomas has gone out of his way to poke fun at those reports. The team has yet to say exactly when he will return, but all signs indicate it will be sooner rather than later.
