Social media went after Denver Nuggets guard Jamal Murray after his poor performance in the team’s do-or-die Game 7 on Sunday.

Murray went just 6-of-16 from the field and 1-for-8 from 3-point range during the Nuggets’ 125-93 Game 7 loss at Paycor Center in Oklahoma City, Ok. on Sunday. He was limited to just 13 points, and had only two assists along with two turnovers.

Murray was quickly singled out as one of the Nuggets’ biggest underperformers, particularly since he garnered a reputation as a clutch player during the team’s 2023 title run. Instead, many argued that it’s time to destroy that narrative, and that Murray only seems to perform well against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Murray averaged 26.1 points per game during Denver’s 2023 playoff run, and put up 23.6 points per game in the first round of the 2024 playoffs against the Lakers. Since then, he has averaged about 21 points per game in 21 playoff games while shooting roughly 43 percent from the field.

The Nuggets signed Murray to a massive new contract last September, and he is seen as one of the franchise’s building blocks alongside Nikola Jokic. It is fair to say Denver needs more out of him than they got in this playoff season.
