Last week we showed you the nerdy pregame handshake shared by Knicks guards Jeremy Lin and Landry Fields. The handshake involves Lin flipping through pages on a book Fields is holding out, the two pretending to take off reading glasses, and placing them in their pockets. They also point to the sky after the routine. We learned that’s because of religious reasons.
HoopsWorld’s Tommy Beer reported Friday that Fields says he and Lin are flipping through the Bible during their handshake, and that’s why they point to the sky afterwards.
Lin is a devout Christian, so this explanation is not much of a surprise. We already knew that Lin felt inspired by Tim Tebow. Now that people are learning more about his religious beliefs, the comparisons to the Broncos quarterback will likely persist.
