One of the top high school recruits in the country called out Bill Belichick after committing to NC State rather than North Carolina over the weekend.

Keshawn Stancil, a 4-star recruit from Clayton High School in Clayton, N.C., announced on Sunday that he has committed to NC State. The Class of 2026 prospect shared some photos on Instagram that showed him in a Wolfpack uniform and took a shot at Belichick in the caption.

Stancil, who is ranked as the 10th-best defensive lineman in the state of North Carolina by 247Sports, said he chose NC State over UNC after he saw a “bum” commit to the Tar Heels. Stancil claimed he “felt played” by Belichick.

“I seen a bum commit to unc (sic) then bill (sic) called I felt played so I went to the owners,” Stancil wrote.

Stancil did not mention any recruits by names, but apparently Belichick’s focus on another player offended the defensive star.

There is still plenty of time for Stancil to change his decision, and it is possible he could receive more offers after his senior season in high school. He has reportedly drawn interest from Clemson, Penn State, Miami, Georgia and other top programs, so it would hardly be a surprise if he changed his mind before next year.

Either way, Stancil obviously was not feeling the love from Belichick. The 73-year-old coach has spent plenty of time recruiting top players in recent months, but if you ask Stancil there have been a few “bums” in the mix for UNC as well.
