Jimmy Butler’s work ethic apparently extends well beyond the hardwood. The Miami Heat swingman has also been putting in serious work inside the recording studio.

Butler recently sat down with The Guardian’s Claire de Lune to discuss his exploits off the court.

When he’s not exploring Latin America to improve his burgeoning coffee brand, Butler revealed that he has been working hard on a country music album.

Butler shared with de Lune that he has already recorded 60 songs for his first musical project. The 6-time All-Star added that his goal is to record 200 songs and select the best tracks for his debut album.

“There’s [sic] so many people out there, and I’m one of them, that are like, ‘Man, I can do that,’ and you really don’t know how difficult it is to make a No. 1 song, how difficult it is to have all these songs on the back burner. And you got to pick the right ones,” said Butler.

Butler called the experience both “stressful” and “incredibly fun.” The country music fan-turned-aspiring-artist said that he saw the venture as a chance to humble himself and try a field where he doesn’t have any experience.

Butler’s unconventional excursions haven’t prevented him from having success in his main gig. The Heat star has made the NBA Finals in two of the last four seasons. He’s averaged 21.4 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 4.4 assists across 25 games played so far this season.
