Watch: Jimmy Butler pretends to smoke joint after blowing layup
Social media was buzzing on Tuesday night about Jimmy Butler smoking an imaginary joint during the Philadelphia 76ers’ game against the Los Angeles Lakers.
Butler went up for a layup midway through the first quarter and missed the shot off the backboard. After his miss, he walked over towards Philly’s bench and grabbed and smoked an imaginary blunt from Amir Johnson.
Jimmy Butler, after he “smoked” the layup, went to get an imaginary joint from Amir Johnson and hit it. We used to do the same thing back in the day after smoking a layup lol pic.twitter.com/XJEupBvPAa

Wondering what the joint has to do with the layup? “Smoking a layup” or smoking something is screwing up an easy/routine play. First Butler smoked the layup, and then he pretended to smoke a joint.
This isn’t the only use smoking a fake joint has on the sports field — it’s also used as a football audible sometimes.
