The Washington Wizards are one of the teams that have been linked to Kevin Durant for quite some time, and you would expect that John Wall would be the guy to recruit Durant to the nation’s capital at some point. The star point guard says he is in no rush, however.
In a recent interview with Chad Dukes on 106.7 The Fan, Wall said he will speak with Durant at some point if he feels the Wizards are in the running.
“I just sit back and relax,” Wall said. “I’m not forcing the issue. I know he just finished a tough series. I mean, I know how it is after you lose a game, you get out of the playoffs, you want time to yourself to relax and focus and think. I know where he be at come time — we’ve been around each other before. I’ll talk to him here and there, see how he’s feeling, and if I feel like we have a shot, I’ll go ahead and throw my pitch. If not, he’s always going to be my big brother and a friend to me.”
Wall has openly said in the past that he will recruit Durant, and we doubt that stance has changed much. Durant grew up in the D.C. area, which is the main reason there have been reports that the Wizards are a legitimate threat to sign him. K.D. also stoked the fire himself when he said he wants to own a piece of this NFL franchise.
The most likely scenario is still that Durant will sign a two-year extension with the Oklahoma City Thunder with the ability to opt out after next season. Some remarks he made immediately following the season should give Thunder funs hope.
