Kelly Oubre Jr’s long wait is finally over.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported Monday that the veteran wing Oubre is expected to sign with the Philadelphia 76ers. Oubre will be getting a one-year deal from Philly, Wojnarowski adds.
The 27-year-old Oubre is often criticized for his non-winning habits, such as inefficient shot-chucking and patchy effort on the defensive end. But Oubre is still a long, talented player at 6-foot-7 who had a career year last season with the Charlotte Hornets (20.3 points and 5.2 rebounds per game).

The 76ers appear to have beaten out a different Eastern Conference rival for Oubre’s services. While Oubre alone will not get them over the hump, Philly lost Georges Niang, Jalen McDaniels, and Shake Milton in free agency this NBA offseason (not to mention the entirely-up-in-the-air James Harden situation still looming over the franchise). That means the former top-15 pick Oubre should get a chance to contribute to the 76ers right away.
