Report: Kevin Durant prefers Warriors if he leaves Thunder

With the Golden State Warriors suffering a historic collapse in the NBA Finals, there has already been speculation that they will look to make some big moves during the offseason. It goes without saying that the biggest move would be signing Kevin Durant.

After the Cleveland Cavaliers beat Golden State in Game 7, Warriors owner Joe Lacob said the team plans to be “very aggressive” this summer. Marc Stein of ESPN.com reports that Lacob’s remark is a not-so-subtle way of saying the Western Conference champs are going all-in for Durant.

There will surely be other prominent targets, via signings or trades, whose names are not yet known but will emerge soon. Golden State is a destination now, something the Warriors know and plan to exploit.

“Big-game hunting” is the phrase you constantly hear in team circles.

Various reports have indicated that the Warriors have as good a chance as anyone outside of Oklahoma City to sign Durant. In one of the latest, Frank Isola of the New York Daily News cites a source who claims Durant prefers Golden State as a destination if he decides to leave the Thunder.

Durant recently said that he will base his free agency decision strictly on basketball and ignore endorsement opportunities and the like. While some Warriors players seem to be against the idea of bringing Durant on board, there’s no question Golden State would have the tools needed to dominate the league for years if K.D. came to town.
