Kevin Durant is not feeling a lot of appreciation from Phoenix Suns fans these days.
The Suns star forward Durant got into another social media discourse on Sunday and ended up taking a swipe at fans of his team in the process. Early on Sunday morning, an X user tagged Durant in a video post of vintage Dirk Nowitzki highlights and wrote, “When you talk about iso efficiency this is what we mean @KDTrey5.”

Durant fired back at the post, writing “Why u tag me and not dirk.” Eventually, the conversation shifted to Durant’s own style of isolation play, which the 15-time All-Star himself defended after being accused of dribbling “20 times” on any given possession.
“3 turnovers in 36 minutes a game,” Durant wrote. “20 dribbles is over exaggerating but I’ve learned suns fans do that when they wanna prove a point bout how much they want me off the team.”
Durant has since deleted his post shading Suns fans. But there clearly isn’t a great relationship right now between them and Durant.
Though the former MVP Durant averaged a stellar 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game this season, the Suns couldn’t find any sort of chemistry as a team and ultimately produced a sub-.500 finish, failing to even make the play-in tournament. That led to widespread questions, including from the team’s own fanbase, about if Durant’s ball-dominant style of play ultimately served to the detriment of the overall offense.
As Durant also hinted at, many Suns fans now want him to be traded, especially since he is Phoenix’s most viable trade piece right now as a second-apron-strapped team that doesn’t even get their own first-round pick this year for their troubles. One particular rival contender is currently favored to land Durant if the Suns do end up trading him. But for now, the chronically-online Durant sees all the shade that Phoenix fans have been throwing his way lately.
