Knicks sign free agent with most incredible name
Halloween may be over, but the New York Knicks are still bringing in somebody who really fits that vibe.
Shams Charania of The Athletic reported on Tuesday that the Knicks are signing guard Boo Buie to a two-way contract. Buie had been a free agent after going undrafted this year but already spent time with the Knicks in training camp and with their G League affiliate, the Westchester Knicks.
A 24-year-old combo guard, Buie had a nice college career at Northwestern, averaging 14.6 points and 4.2 assists per game over his five seasons there. But people were mainly hung up on his fantastic name. Here were some of the best reaction posts on X to the Knicks’ signing of Buie.

Buie’s real first name is Daniel, but his elite nickname of “Boo” makes his aesthetic infinitely better. That one definitely makes for a strong challenger to this fellow athlete for the best sports name of 2024.
