With a high playoff seed very much in reach, the New York Knicks are trying to shake things up around the fringes.
Stefan Bondy of the New York Post reports this week that the Knicks are trying to trade center Jericho Sims ahead of the Feb. 6 deadline. Bondy notes that the 26-year-old Sims is “being shopped” by the team right now.
Sims has spent his entire career with the Knicks since being selected by them in the second round of the 2021 NBA Draft. He has managed to get a few rotation minutes for them over the years thanks to his jumping ability and his size at 6-foot-10 in a very thin frontcourt.

But this season, Sims is down to career lows with 1.7 points in 11.6 minutes per game. The Knicks are playing starting center Karl-Anthony Towns heavy minutes while turning to Precious Achiuwa to sop up any extra playing time at the 5. As a result, Sims has not been a part of the regular rotation for roughly a month now.
The 26-15 Knicks could also be getting another center back from injury at some point. That means Sims, who will be a free agent after the season, may be the clear odd man out here.
