Kobe Bryant autographs game-worn jersey, gifts it to Klay Thompson
Sunday’s game between the Lakers and the Warriors will be remembered as one of the biggest regular season upsets in basketball history. But this was a pretty cool moment, too.
Lakers guard Kobe Bryant, in the midst of his swan song season and appearing in his final contest against Golden State, gifted the jersey he wore on Sunday to Klay Thompson after the game, complete with an autograph and a personalized message for the Warriors swingman (per Lakers Nation).
Bryant’s inscription read, “To Klay. It’s been a pleasure watching you grow into the player you are. Keep going. Kobe Bryant.”
Talk about one helluva retirement gift.
For Thompson, the son of fellow Lakers legend Mychal Thompson, not only is he in the thick of a historic season with the Dubs, but he also now has the blessing of arguably the two greatest shooting guards to ever play the game.
That will definitely help lessen the sting of Sunday’s shocking defeat as Golden State continues their quest to break the NBA’s all-time record for wins in a single season.
