Kristaps Porzingis traded to Wizards from Mavericks

The Dallas Mavericks have officially given up on the Kristaps Porzingis-Luka Doncic pairing.
The Mavericks traded Porzingis to the Washington Wizards on Thursday in exchange for Spencer Dinwiddie and Davis Bertans, according to multiple reports.
Dallas acquired Porzingis in a blockbuster trade with the New York Knicks three years ago. The deal never really panned out, as Porzingis has had trouble staying on the court and was never a great fit with Doncic. The 7-foot-3 center has been sidelined for several games with a knee injury.
Porzingis is averaging 19.2 points and 7.7 rebounds per game this season. He is owed $33 million next season and has a $36 million player option for 2023-24. The Mavericks had been looking for a way to unload his contract.
Porzingis is still just 26, but health is the biggest concern with him. There were reports that Doncic was unhappy with some of Porzingis’ behavior off the court.
