Kyrie Irving had bed bugs at haunted OKC hotel
Kyrie Irving got little sleep and exited Sunday’s Cavs-Thunder game early not because he was truly ill, but because of a bout with bed bugs the night before.
Irving left Cleveland’s win over the Thunder in the first quarter with what the team said was “flu-like symptoms,” a diagnosis that covers a wide range of possibilities. Irving revealed Monday that the bed bugs were the real problem.

“Just imagine how freaked out you’d be if you saw friggin five, big ass bed bugs just sitting on your pillow,” Irving said Monday. “I woke up itching and I’m just looking around and I’m like, ‘Are you serious right now?’ It was 3 a.m. and I was so tired at that point.”
The Akron Beacon Journal says Irving slept on the couch and only got three hours of sleep as a result. He was nauseous during the game because of a lack of sleep, and he also had a tight back.
A hotel worker confirmed the bed bugs and said it was isolated to a single room.
Irving recovered well enough to play a full game on Monday, but the Cavs lost to the Pistons anyway.
As a related note, the hotel where Irving had his bed bugs is notorious for being haunted. It’s no surprise then that Irving says other teammates had issues too.
