Report: Lamar Odom ‘much better off’ a day after being hospitalized

Lamar Odom

As Lamar Odom continues to fight for his life at a Las Vegas hospital, some seemingly good news has emerged through the Rev. Jesse Jackson.

Jackson, who visited Odom in the hospital Wednesday morning, told reporters that there have been some encouraging signs. Odom remains unconscious and on life support, but doctors told Jackson there have been signs of responsiveness and that the former NBA star was “much better off” Wednesday than he was Tuesday evening.

“Doctors felt he is much better off today than he was yesterday,” Jackson said, per Bill Oram of The Orange County Register. “At least there is some responsiveness now. He had signs of responsiveness, to that extent that’s good news. He’s not talking. He’s got tubes running out. But we felt inspired by his presence, we had prayer.”

Jackson added that Odom’s condition should still be considered “critical.”

One of the latest reports indicates that Odom overdosed on drugs and had “every drug imaginable” in his system. While it is certainly positive news that he is becoming more responsive, it remains a real possibility that Odom could have brain damage. There has been speculation that he went off the rails over the weekend over an episode of “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” that showed him in a negative light.

Our thoughts are with Odom, his family and friends.
