Lamar Odom expected to survive, will need months of rehab

Lamar Odom

Lamar Odom has been showing signs of improvement over the past several days, and it sounds like he will ultimately be able to pull through after it appeared he may not survive.

TMZ is reporting that doctors expect Odom to live, though he has almost certainly done some permanent damage to his body. The former NBA star will undergo months of therapy to work on speech, physical movement and more.

Odom’s estranged wife Khloe Kardashian has remained by his side since he was hospitalized last week, and TMZ says she has vowed to remain with him when he begins therapy. Odom and Kardashian have finalized divorce papers but they have not yet been signed by a judge. Khloe had been dating another NBA player for the past several months, but it is unclear if the couple is still together.

While it is certainly good news that Odom is expected to survive, there is some fear that he may have suffered brain damage as a result of his alleged drug overdose. Workers at Love Ranch South provided some disturbing details when they called 911, which you can listen to here.

We wish Odom all the best in his recovery.
