The Cleveland Cavaliers snapped their six-game losing streak with a win over the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday night, but the entire team certainly didn’t give a full effort for 48 minutes. How do we know this? Because LeBron James played some of the worst defense you will ever see on one possession.
Roughly halfway through the first quarter, LeBron made absolutely no effort to close out on Wesley Johnson when Johnson had a wide-open look from the corner. As expected, Johnson knocked down the 3-pointer.
Sure, it was only the first quarter and LeBron is still rounding back into form after missing two weeks with an injury. But if James Harden was seen dogging it that badly (like he was here), we would have been all over him. We shouldn’t make exceptions for King James, who is supposed to be leading by example and breaking the Cavs of what he referred to as “bad habits.”
