LeBron James chides media about Tim Duncan fuss? (Video)
LeBron James was mic’d up for ABC’s “Wired” segment during Game 1 of the NBA Finals on Thursday night and that actually led to some cool inside audio from the Miami Heat forward.
Throughout Game 1, ABC dropped in little clips here and there of comments James made. They started off with a sampling of what he said in a pregame speech and ended with some of his comments as the game was ending. My favorite clip came when James went up to Tim Duncan and said he was giving the media something to talk about. Though it’s not exactly clear what James was referencing, my guess is that he was bonding with the San Antonio Spurs veteran star over the media blowing up a story angle before Game 1.
Duncan said before the series that the Spurs wanted the Heat because they wanted to avenge last year’s loss to Miami. He also casually said that the Spurs would win this time, but that wasn’t so much of a guarantee or prediction as it was a personal pep talk.
So what did exactly did LeBron say to Duncan?
“Me and you again. I gave the media something to talk about, cause they don’t have anything else to talk about.”
Whatever the context was for that statement — and my guess is it was all the pre-series talk — it gave Duncan a chuckle and smile.
Duncan and LeBron seem to have a pretty good relationship. Check out what Timmy said to LeBron after the 2007 Finals where the Spurs swept LeBron’s Cavs:
