Lil B explains why he lifted the Based God Curse from Kevin Durant

The significance of rapper Lil B lifting Kevin Durant’s Based God Curse cannot possibly be overstated — obviously — but the reason it happened is more complex than what you might thing.

As we told you, Lil B lifted the longstanding curse after Durant announced he was going to be signing with the Warriors. Lil B is from the Bay Area and a Warriors fan, so the assumption was Durant joining his favorite team righted all wrongs.

That, says Lil B, is not why the curse was lifted, though. Not completely, anyway.

“A player can shows their heart with their actions,” Lil B told Ananth Pandian of CBS Sports. “Kevin Durant didn’t really need to say anything, he showed with his actions that he wants to be a Warrior. He is a warrior. He’s coming to Oakland, California! So the Based God seen Durant’s heart and earnestness and said it was only right for the curse to be lifted.”

Lil B also said that the curse would be lifted if Durant played him one-on-one. That is also no longer necessary.

“Let’s forget about one-on-one and let’s focus on winning on another championship.” Lil B said.

Durant will no doubt be relieved that the curse is broken. He’s not that far removed from a rather harsh reminder of what it can do to you.
