Lonnie Walker IV is being waived by the Boston Celtics, but he does not seem fazed.
Walker was signed by the Celtics in August to a one-year, non-guaranteed contract. The 25-year-old guard participated in the preseason with the team but is being waived.
The Celtics are maintaining roster flexibility by waiving Walker, who would have cost the team $11 million due to his salary plus luxury tax penalties.

Keith Smith says Walker will join the Celtics’ G League team if he is not signed by another team.
As I expected, the Celtics will keep their 15th spot open by waiving Lonnie Walker IV.
$11M in salary plus tax penalties was a big ask for a likely non-rotation player.
Walker will join the Maine Celtics, unless he signs an NBA deal elsewhere. That was the plan when he signed…

Walker reacted via Instagram on Saturday. He shared a photo of a man ready to do battle that said “No risk. No story.”
Walker also commented “Will always bet on myself this gonna (sic) be one hell of a story.”

The 25-year-old still could end up with another NBA team if not the Celtics.
Walker is best known for his four-year stint with the Spurs to begin his NBA career. He then spent a season with the Lakers and the Nets. Walker averaged 9.7 points in 17.4 minutes per game last season with Brooklyn.
