Washington Wizards power forward Markieff Morris is having a bit of fun with his individual matchup in the first round.
After the Wizards won Game 1 over the Atlanta Hawks on Sunday by the final of 114-107, Hawks power forward Paul Millsap complained that they were “playing MMA” due to their physical style.
Speaking with the media before Game 2 on Wednesday, Morris took an opportunity to troll Millsap for the dig.
Per Chase Hughes of CSN Mid-Atlantic:
If that’s MMA, then what we do next might be double-MMA from what I heard,” he said.
He brought up the MMA three more times during his media scrum:
1) “I’m a big MMA fan.”
2) “We’re going to stay physical and stay playing MMA basketball.”
3) “I guess if we’re playing MMA, they’re giving them all the fouls.”
Morris, who finished Game 1 with 21 points, seven rebounds, and four blocks, definitely got the better of Millsap, who ended up with 19 points, two boards, one assist, and no other stats to his name. Millsap has said that he won’t let Morris get in his head, but it may prove difficult with Morris a certified graduate of Troll So Hard University.
