Paul Millsap won’t let Markieff Morris get in his head
Paul Millsap says he is determined not to let Markieff Morris get in his head, but his comments indicate he might have already failed.
Millsap’s Atlanta Hawks lost to Morris’ Washington Wizards in Game 1 of their Eastern Conference playoffs first-round series on Sunday. Millsap and Morris got into it at one point, which is something Millsap says he needs to avoid.
“That’s what he wants me to do, take all the focus off the team and put it on him,” Millsap said Monday via the Atlanta Journal Constitution. “I’m not going to do that. I’ve been in the league too long. It’s about the team and stopping those two guys, the head of the snake which is John Wall, and we’ll give ourselves a really good chance to win.”
Millsap says he wants the focus to remain on Washington’s biggest weapons, which include the aforementioned Wall, as well as Bradley Beal.
But saying something and doing it are two different things.
Morris already trolled Millsap before the series began by calling his opponent a “stretch 4” rather than a power forward. Then Millsap complained after Game 1 with these comments about Washington.
It seems like Millsap is already bothered by ‘Kieff and the Wizards.
