Mavericks investigating Kristaps Porzingis incident, believe he was hit with objects

Kristaps Porzingis

The Dallas Mavericks are investigating the incident that left Kristaps Porzingis bleeding from the head over the weekend, and the belief is that the star big man was attacked and hit with objects in his home nation of Latvia.

A video that surfaced on social media Sunday showed a seemingly irate Porzingis with blood on his face trying to be calmed down by police. Shams Charania of The Athletic reports that the Mavericks are aware of the situation and looking into it.

A report from TMZ claims Porzingis was out celebrating at bars and clubs in his hometown of Liepaja when he was confronted by a group of fans who were angry he was traded to the Mavericks from the New York Knicks. The video was from the aftermath of the incident, and Porzingis was also shown shoving a woman out of his way.

Porzingis has only been with the Mavericks since February, but they have already had to deal with a lot of drama surrounding him. Between the incident over the weekend and the allegations that surfaced shortly after he was traded, the Mavs have had their hands full.
