Michael Kidd-Gilchrist to join Mavericks after buyout from Hornets
The Dallas Mavericks are getting their man.
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist has reached an agreement to sign with the Mavericks, according to multiple reporters.
Kidd-Gilchrist fell out of the rotation in Charlotte and received a buyout from the Hornets. He cleared waivers on Monday, which allowed him to sign with a team of his choosing as a free agent. He chose Dallas, who had interest in him for weeks.
The former No. 2 overall draft pick made just 12 appearances for Charlotte this season, averaging 4.0 points and 2.9 rebounds in 13.3 minutes per game. He was in the middle of his eighth season with the team.
Kidd-Gilchrist will add another defender to Dallas’ front court. The Mavericks will have to clear a roster spot to make room for Kidd-Gilchrist.
