Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo has been easily the biggest name available at this year’s NBA trade deadline.
The Golden State Warriors ended their hopes of landing him right now by acquiring Kristaps Porzingis in a trade with the Atlanta Hawks. Now, the Minnesota Timberwolves have reportedly “moved on” from any trade discussions involving Antetokounmpo, according to ESPN insider Brian Windhorst.
“Minnesota, who was also very aggressively trying to get Giannis, they have moved on,” Windhorst said during an episode of “First Take.”
“You can tell that Minnesota and Golden State think that they are not getting Giannis today,” Windhorst added.
The Miami Heat are still hoping to make a deal work for Antetokounmpo, but Windhorst said the Heat can make a “better offer” to the Bucks this summer in terms of draft picks.
The Timberwolves raised eyebrows on Tuesday by trading away Mike Conley in a three-team deal with the Chicago Bulls and Detroit Pistons. Fans thought the Timberwolves dumping Conley’s salary was a precursor to a potential Antetokounmpo move, but that doesn’t seem to be the case right now.
On Thursday morning, the Timberwolves traded four second-round picks, Rob Dillingham, and Leonard Miller to the Bulls for Ayo Dosunmu and Julian Phillips, which was shortly before Windhorst’s update.

For the Bucks, they could very well wait until the summer to find a better package for a trade involving Antetokounmpo, but for now, the Timberwolves are reportedly out of the running to acquire the superstar.
