The Phoenix Suns appear to be very serious about their pursuit of Monty Williams for their head coaching vacancy, and they plan to show that in their second meeting with the Philadelphia 76ers assistant.
Shams Charania of Stadium reports that Williams is expected to meet with the Suns for the second time this week, with team owner Robert Sarver sitting in on the interview.
“I’m told Phoenix will interview Monty Williams for a second time this week, and this time it’s expected to include Suns owner Robert Sarver.”

“This is an important development because it means the Suns are taking the next step in their pursuit of Williams, who has also been targeted by the Lakers and potentially other teams,” Charania said.
Williams has reportedly been considered the “top target” of the Suns since they fired Igor Kokoskov after just one season with the team. They seem more focused on hiring Williams than the Lakers have been, as LA has interviewed multiple big names for their head coaching vacancy.
With the latest report we heard about how former Cleveland Cavaliers coach Tyronn Lue’s interview with the Lakers went, the Suns may be the best fit for Williams. By having their owner take part in the interview process, they could be trying to close the deal.
