Report: NBA sets target date to resume season

Adam Silver

The NBA has a target date for resuming its season, at least preliminarily.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, commissioner Adam Silver informed the league’s Board of Governors that July 31 is being targeted as a possible date to return.

The league has to take into account a lot of factors. Negotiations for a place to play are still ongoing. There will have to be some brief form of training camp to ensure players can get back into shape as well. This date is certainly subject to change depending on how all those factors are resolved.

What we still don’t know is what form the season will take when it does resume, be it at the end of July or perhaps into August. We know what a majority of general managers would like to see, but Silver is taking that feedback into account along with a lot of other factors. One would expect we’ll know more within the next week or two.
