The Brooklyn Nets offered Sean Marks their general manager job, according to a report.
Yahoo’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported the news on Tuesday, saying Brooklyn offered the current San Antonio Spurs employee their GM gig.
Marks is from New Zealand and went to Cal before embarking on an 11-season NBA career, which included a two-season stint with the Spurs. He became an assistant coach with the Spurs after his playing career ended in 2011. He was promoted to assistant GM in Sept. 2014.

Marks may have beaten out former Raptors exec Bryan Colangelo and Nuggets assistant GM Arturas Karnisovas for the job.

There may be implications to such a hiring. The New York Daily News’ Frank Isola believes Marks could bring in Spurs assistant coach Ettore Messina as the Nets’ head coach.
If Sean Marks is the guy there is a very good chance that Spurs assistant coach Ettore Messina, via Italy, could be the Nets head coach.
