Pat Connaughton has funny quote about Bucks’ ‘bench mob’
The Milwaukee Bucks’ second unit was a big factor in their Eastern Conference semifinals series against the Boston Celtics, which Milwaukee closed out in five games.
Pat Connaughton averaged 10 points per game in Games 3-5 of the series, all of which Milwaukee won. George Hill was even better, putting up 17 points per game during those three contests.
As Malcolm Brogdon returns from his minor plantar fascia tear, he may come off the bench rather than start. Connaughton joked that playing with the second unit, nicknamed “bench mob,” is actually a promotion.
When asked about welcoming Malcolm Brogdon to the Bucks’ second unit, Pat Connaughton had to cut into the question: “It’s not the second unit. It’s the ‘Bench Mob.’ Big difference there. One is a demotion, the other is a promotion!”

Brogdon played in the Game 5 win and scored 10 points in 17 minutes. It was his first game since March 15.
Nikola Mirotic may continue in a starting role for the Bucks, which look like the class of the East and await the Game 7 winner between the Raptors and 76ers in the conference finals. Their depth is a major asset as they continue through the playoffs.
