Report: Dave Joerger on hot seat with Grizzlies

There have been a lot of questions surrounding the Memphis Grizzlies this season, and one report says head coach Dave Joerger’s job could be in jeopardy.

Hoops Critic’s Brian Geltzeiler reports that Joerger “is extremely close to being fired.”

League source tells me that Dave Joerger is extremely close to being fired. Depending upon tonight's game, could happen as soon as tomorrow

He also says renowned stats guru John Hollinger is on thin ice with the team.

League source also tells me that John Hollinger is also on extremely thin ice as well with the Grizzlies.

While that may be extreme, there is no doubt it’s a tricky situation in Memphis.

The Grizzlies are 13-12, but some of their defeats tell a much stronger story. They were blasted by 50 points against the Warriors, 30 by the Cavs, and they lost by 24 against the Hornets on Friday. Joerger decided to make a few changes and benched Zach Randolph and Tony Allen following Friday’s loss, but it didn’t help much as the team lost to the Miami Heat on Sunday.

On Saturday ESPN’s Marc Stein even tweeted about some tension among the Grizzlies.

Keep your eye, meantime, on Grizz. Latest run of blowout Ls can only heat up simmering tension between bench & lead decision-maker Joe Abadi

— Marc Stein (@ESPNSteinLine) December 12, 2015

Abadi is main shot-caller & driving force behind Jeff Green/Vince Carter moves. More thinly veiled shots at roster last nite from D. Joerger

Whether or not the team decides to fire a coach that has led them to consecutive 50-win seasons and playoff appearances remains to be seen, but it’s clear the franchise is not happy with its results of late.
