Report: Kawhi Leonard could return as early as Thursday
Kawhi Leonard may soon be making his return to the San Antonio Spurs.
ESPN’s Lisa Salters and Adrian Wojnarowski reported on Saturday that Leonard could return to the Spurs as early as Thursday. The report was shared prior to the Spurs’ game against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Saturday night.
Leonard said during the week that he would return to action soon, but he did not give a date. There has been a lot of uncertainty surrounding his absence due to a quad injury, and this is the first time we’ve received a specific date about his return, though a previous report said he would return in March.
Leonard has only seen action in nine games this season. He missed the beginning of the year, then hurt his shoulder upon returning and re-injured his quad, causing him to miss extended time.
If Leonard were able to return during the week, that would give him a month to readjust to the Spurs before the playoffs. San Antonio sure could use him back as they’ve fallen to the middle of the pack in the West and just a few games away from missing the postseason.
