Report: Kawhi Leonard returning to San Antonio in hope of March return
Kawhi Leonard’s season isn’t over just yet.
According to Michael C. Wright and Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the San Antonio Spurs forward is returning to team facilities in Texas to work out with the hope of returning in March.
Leonard had been in New York to seek further consultation on his right quad injury, where he was working out at NBPA headquarters. He will now join up with teammates and hopes to play five-on-five in the near future.
The Spurs had been preparing to enter the playoffs without Leonard, but it sounds like that fear may not be realized if all goes according to plan. Gregg Popovich had gone so far as to make that pronunciation publicly, but if he was trying to put pressure on Leonard to put up or shut up, it may have worked.
