The Houston Rockets’ head coaching job reportedly belongs to Mike D’Antoni if he wants it.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical, the Rockets are prepared to make D’Antoni a formal offer and are already in the process of assembling a staff around him.

D’Antoni suddenly emerged as the leading candidate in Houston after he impressed the team in his first interview and was granted a second with team owner Les Alexander.
For a while, it looked like the Rockets were heading for a reunion with one of their former coaches. D’Antoni was not a popular name mentioned in association with head coaching vacancies, likely because of the way his two-year stint with the Los Angeles Lakers turned out. However, the Lakers have been even worse since D’Antoni left, so perhaps the Rockets feel that mess isn’t his fault.
