Russell Westbrook’s wife blasts Skip Bayless over criticisms

Russell Westbrook dribbles

Russell Westbrook’s wife is defending even better than he is these days.

Nina Westbrook took to Twitter on Friday to blast FS1 sports personality Skip Bayless. Nina was upset at Bayless’ continued use of the name “Westbrick” in reference to her husband.

“I’m tired [of] you @RealSkipBayless calling my husband out of his name,” she tweeted. “It is extremely childish. That is my name as well, and many other peoples name. You’re disrespectful, and I’m extremely offended by your behavior. You should apologize.”

Bayless, who is famous for his hot takes and his unrelenting criticisms of LeBron James, has ratcheted up his shade for the Los Angeles Lakers this season amid their continued struggles. Westbrook has been one of Bayless’ favorite targets too. “Westbrick” is a reference to Westbrook’s tendency to miss (or brick) shots.

Nina also targeted Bayless in another tweet Friday about the name-calling.

“You’ve got to stop calling people out of their name,” she wrote in reply to one of Bayless’ “Westbrick” tweets. “You are very disrespectful and a bully. This is why so many young people think it’s okay to exhibit this type of behavior. Social media has become such heinous place because of people like you. My name is Westbrook.”

Bayless often says inflammatory things to stir the pot and get a reaction out of people. Using insulting nicknames is also a Bayless specialty, and he has been called out for it by NBA players before. Nina Westbrook seems to have given Bayless exactly the kind of reaction that he was looking for, so we will see if Bayless responds. As for why Westbrook did not respond to Bayless himself, we have an idea about that as well.
