Seattle TV station refusing to acknowledge ‘Oklahoma City Thunder’ during playoffs
The Seattle SuperSonics moved to Oklahoma City and became the Thunder in 2008, but that doesn’t mean the city of Seattle is over the loss of their beloved basketball team. Not at all.
In fact, Seattle TV station KIRO 7 is vowing not to mention “Oklahoma City Thunder” or any variation of the team’s name at all during their newscasts.
“The former Seattle SuperSonics are in the NBA playoffs. Throughout their run, KIRO 7 promises you we won’t say OKC or their team name in our newscasts,” they said on Facebook Tuesday.
Instead of calling them OKC or the Thunder, KIRO listed the team as the “Former Sonics” on a graphic after Monday night’s Game 1 loss to the Clippers.
Would someone get this city a new team already? They sure could use it!
