Shams Charania gets meme treatment after Adrian Wojnarowski retires
Adrian Wojnarowski stunned the sports world on Wednesday when he announced he is retiring from the news industry, and many people expect his longtime rival to be thrilled by the development.
Wojnarowski and Shams Charania have long been viewed as the two best reporters in the NBA. Both are very connected, and the younger Charania learned from Wojnarowski for a brief period when the two worked for Yahoo Sports. They had since become competitors, with some comparing their relationship to that of Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker in “Star Wars.”
That is why it was no surprise when the memes began rolling in the second Wojnarowski dropped his final “Woj bomb” and revealed he has taken a new job.

There is no doubt Charania will have less competition for major scoops with Wojnarowski out of the game. The big question is whether he will remain as motivated now that he is no longer in direct competition with his former mentor.
