Spurs fan fulfills promise, gets cornrows after Kawhi Leonard all-star voting tweet blows up
A San Antonio Spurs fan is now rocking cornrows thanks to his backing of Kawhi Leonard for the All-Star game.
Spurs fan Brayden Neubauer, who writes for the team’s SB Nation site, Pounding the Rock, fired off a rather innocuous tweet last week. Leonard was 12,000 votes short of a starting spot in the All-Star Game, so Neubauer decided to try to make that up by himself, with a carrot on a stick: if it worked, he’d get cornrows.
If this gets the 12K retweets that Kawhi Leonard needs to start in the All-Star game I'll get cornrows #NBAVote pic.twitter.com/SCmrgXGNkL

People tweet things like this all the time. Normally, nobody sees it, or they never go through with it. This may well have gone the same way, if not for the Spurs’ official account catching wind of it and retweeting it to their 1.15 million followers:
If anyone can make this happen, it's #SpursNation! ⭐️ ⬇️ CLICK & RETWEET ⬇️ ⭐️ https://t.co/CFkgMh78al

The tweet ended up getting over 12,000 retweets. Leonard made it into the Western Conference starting lineup. And Neubauer got his cornrows.
12,000 Kawhi Leonard #NBAVOTE retweets = cornrows. Never, ever underestimate a Spurs fan. pic.twitter.com/77L3Sx1F1t

That’s dedication. The only way this could have been any better is if we found a way to involve Spurs Jesus, who would look superb with cornrows.
